Objectives

Currently, European Union customs policy focuses on the following areas:

• revision of the governance of the customs union

• modernisation of the legal framework including strengthening of areas such as risk management or security and safety

• extension of the use of European electronic information systems

• support for the improvement of the single market in the area of customs handling of goods
